Micaceous Clay Bowl with Firing Clouds (#31)
Virginia T Romero (1896–1998)— Taos Pueblo
For many decades Romero was one of the only potters at Taos. In the last decades of her life other younger Taos woman began making pottery as well. But few have achieved Romero’s sense of aesthetics in shape and surface polish. The raised undulating line at the lip of pot and black marks left by the firing create a pleasing holistic form.
