Huma is considered one of today's better potters. But how and why can we make such a designation? Perhaps it is because her work is impeccable and she is commercially successful; she has produced masterpieces along with smaller and more affordable works. Or, perhaps, her winning multiple awards at Native art shows, such as her Best of Show win at the 2002 Santa Fe Indian Market, has provided her with the recognition she deserves.
