The Burntwater style is among the newer ones to develop. Within a regional style such as Burntwater there can be considerable variation because of individual weaver preferences and interpretation of the style through their weaving. Once weavers wove only in the style of their area of the reservation. But today, some weavers will weave in multiple styles –choosing a style to challenge themselves or because it is appealing.
