Jemez pottery is eclectic and has largely been re-invented over the last forty years. Until the 1970s most Jemez pottery although of native clay was painted with bright-colored store bought paints— a true tradition of its own. But as the market for Pueblo pottery expanded, many Jemez women showed themselves possessing latent and an inherent talent.
