Black Carved Jar (#77)
Although the exact origin of carved pottery is still under discussion, it is clear that the style was taken up and today is identified as a Santa Clara pottery style. Interesting too, is that although the materials, form, and design iconography are readily identifiable as Santa Clara, Teresita Naranjo's individual hand is still the first thing one sees when looking at this finely made jar.
