Margaret and Luther are a brother and sister team who continue the polychrome style of painting made famous by their parents, Lela and Van Gutierrez. The use of multiple colors in intricate paintings is a distinguishing hallmark of the family’s pottery, along with the often whimsical and eclectic animals and designs. Many years of experimentation have refined the colors, all of which are from mineral clays found around Santa Clara Pueblo.
