Medina was one of the matriarchs of Zia pottery. She learned from her mother and aunts and passed the legacy to her daughters and grandchildren. She began making pottery in 1963 learning from her husband’s grandmother, Trinidad Medina, one of most accomplished potters of the early twentieth century. The beautiful designs on her pottery are flowers, rainbows, clouds and kiva steps.
